Qur'an 73:8 Al-Muzzammil
وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًۭا
And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion.
Saheeh International
What it says
Two commands, one for the tongue and one for everything else. Batala is to cut a thing off clean, so tabattul is severing the other attachments and turning what remains in one direction. The verb is of one pattern and the verbal noun after it is of another, and the mismatch pushes the cutting further than the verb on its own would.
