Qur'an 92:1-4 Al-Layl
وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ
By the night when it coversAnd [by] the day when it appearsAnd [by] He who created the male and female,Indeed, your efforts are diverse.
Saheeh International
What it says · verse 1
The surah opens on the night, and the verb is left without an object. It covers, and the Arabic does not say what it covers, so the answer is the earth and whatever else the hearer is willing to put under it.
