Qur'an 76:3 Al-Insan

إِنَّا هَدَيْنَٰهُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًۭا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا

Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful.

Saheeh International

What it says

Guidance is reported as something already done, and done for the human being as such, not for a chosen part of him. What is left open is only the response, and it is put as two nouns with the road between them. Shakir and kafur are the two ends the rest of the surah fills in, four verses to one of them and eighteen to the other.
