Qur'an 76:9 Al-Insan

[Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.

What it says

The reason is given in the givers' own words, the only words quoted from them anywhere in the surah, and they run on into the next verse. Li-wajhillah aims the food past the person receiving it, so the recipient is not the point of the act. The two things refused are the two ordinary returns on a gift, payment and thanks, and the second is the harder one to give up.
