Qur'an 105:3-5 Al-Fil
وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍۢ مِّن سِجِّيلٍۢ فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍۢ مَّأْكُولٍۭ
And He sent against them birds in flocks,Striking them with stones of hard clay,And He made them like eaten straw.

What it says · verse 3
The army had an elephant, which was the largest instrument of war anyone in that part of the world had seen. What came against it was birds. The mismatch is not an ornament of the story, it is the argument the surah is making.
